Last week I shared my first part of increasing web traffic through video and now I am going to elaborate further to try and help you suck as much juicy traffic from your video marketing efforts as possible. After all you’ve gone to the (sometimes lengthy) effort of creating your video masterpiece so you deserve the whole world to see it, right?

First let’s talk tags!

Tag Your Video To Glory

There’s that famous old saying that goes “follow those who succeed, not those that fail“. Ok, I might have just made that up but it’s true! Would you rather follow a person who has already succeeded or someone who is trying? Yep, the first one (I hope!).

So that is what we will apply to our YouTube video promotion.

video tags
Make sure to use good video tags

To do this simply search for videos on YouTube that are related to your own. If you have a video on mastering Kung-fu then type that in. In the search results look for videos that have had a good amount of views already, say 100,000. Open that video and quite simply copy their tags. Add those tags to your own video that you have uploaded and hey presto, you have a very good chance of being shown in the related video section in the sidebar. This can make a big difference in the viewers you receive. Not only that it will take you all of two minutes so you have no excuse.

Next up is to utilize the power of video responses.

Respond To Success

Adding video responses to your marketing campaign is a very wise move. Why? Simply because it can garner you many views to your video.

By using the following technique, you will be following a very powerful method to ensure that you are getting the most from your video promotion. This alone may well result in hundreds or thousands of extra views, hits to your site, or even sales. So let’s get started.

Once your video is uploaded to YouTube, find a related video that has already had a good amount of views. We will use Kung-fu as an example again. Here is a good example that has had over 3.47 million views at time of writing:

The video doesn’t have to have had that many views but make sure it has a decent amount. Maybe aim for a minimum of 100k. Now we have a good video to piggyback we post a video response. Under the video in question, look for the section called “Video Responses” and then for the link that says “Post a Video Response”. Once that is clicked the next page will allow us to actually post your reply.

Crazy mofo's!

Now look for the link that reads “Choose a Video”. This is where you choose one of your own related videos that is already uploaded to YouTube and once selected click on “Respond with this Video”. Job done!

If you go back to the original video, you will notice that your video is listed in the ‘Video Reponses’ area. Because it is added to an already popular video, you can imagine the number of views you may receive from piggybacking their popularity, but of course you could also be seen as adding value to the original videos page so everyone wins.

Like the tagging method above the video response method is a very easy, quick and powerful strategy to increase views and traffic. If you already have YouTube videos uploaded you would be mad to not give these methods a try to see how it helps you!
